Q: I’m so confused! There are so many types of diets out there like paleo, vegan, raw food, vegetarian, etc. How do I figure out what type of diet is best?
A: I don’t blame you for being confused! There are so many opinions and so many “experts” touting the “best” diet, that it’s getting impossible to determine just what to eat. The best advice I have is that we all have different dietary requirements which differ according to age, general health, and gender. Due to these and other factors, there is simply no one-size-fits-all diet. However, a sensible diet incorporates plenty of organic fresh vegetables and fruit, minimal whole grains, and healthy protein choices such as wild-caught salmon, free range eggs, organic meat and dairy products (if not allergic to dairy), beans, and raw nuts and seeds. Our food should, ideally, be “package free” eliminating refined ingredients. The majority of what we eat should be fresh, unprocessed homemade food.
